Hua Hin is a famous beach resort town in Thailand

Hua Hin, the in-beach town for Bangkok 's elite. Hua Hin is on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand, 170 kms south of Bangkok, lying astride the southern Petchkasem Highway from km 224 to km 245.

In direct contrast with bustling Pattaya which is swarming with highrises, Hua Hin retains a provincial character with just minor new construction in evidence. It is a town where the Royal Family still come to spend their summer days at Klai Kangwol Summer Palace situated within the township. Affluent Bangkok folks come here to enjoy private visits in their own villas, condos or upmarket hotels.

The town has two main streets. For those who arrive on the train, the main street, Dam Noen Kasem boulevard leads from the stately Hua Hin railway station straight to the main beach, a distance of 1 km, passing the various government offices and ending on the beach front by the side of the former Royal Railway Hotel, now the five-star Sofitel Central Hotel.

Another main street is the southern Petchkasem Highway, which passes through the town, on both sides of which are the markets, main shops and restaurants. However, the deluxe hotels and condos are out on the remote beach front.

Hua Hin's Slogan : City of pure gold, delectable coconuts and pineapples, delightful beaches, mountain and caves, land of spiritual beauty.
