Wat (Temple), near Hua Hin

The eastern end lies the Ayutthaya period temple, Wat Maha Samanaram which contains mural paintings by Khrua In Khong, a renowned Thai painter. Another temple, Wat Phra Kaeo, the top is the royal temple of Phra khon Khiri. In the middle is the 40 meters high chedi called Phra That Chom Phet in which a piece of the Buddha's relic is ensconced.

A portion of the summer palace has been turned into Phra Nakhon Khiri National Museum where priceless antiques such as King Rama IV' s and King Rama V's bronze and brass sculptures, ceramics from China, Japan, and Europe The museum is open daily between 9.00 a.m.- 4.00 p.m. except Mondays and Tuesdays. Admission Bt 5 each. The Castle Hill Palace can be reached easily by a hillside tram. The station is on the Petchkasem Highway, just after the turn at Phetchburi to Hua Hin. The station provides a comfortable wayside stop where souvenirs and meals are available in a pleasant mall.
